The University of Rhode Island’s (URI’s) College of Business has appointed Roby Luna, President of Aretec, Inc., to its Dean’s Advisory Council (“the Council”). In addition to advising the Dean on matters of curriculum, stakeholder group relations and long-range strategic planning, the Council also assures that the College remains accredited, identifies and facilitates student placement in internships and career opportunities, builds connections between the College and the business community, and assists in identifying other industry leaders for future involvement with the College’s students and faculty. Council members are selected by the Dean of the College of Business, with input from the University’s Administration, former council members, faculty, staff and alumni. Membership is offered to those who best demonstrate an interest and commitment to the College of Business and the success of its students, and whose highly successful records of personal achievement have earned them respect and recognition within the business community. When asked about joining the Council, Luna stated, “I’m incredibly honored to be added to [the advisory council]. Influencing URI’s direction is a responsibility that I am passionate about and I look forward to preparing our students for a future in data science.” A URI alumnus (’04), Luna is the President and one of the founding members of Aretec, Inc., a data science and cybersecurity company.
